Prior to the 2013-14 academic year, in almost a quarter of a century of teaching, I had never given a ‘quiz’ to any of my students – not once. This was partly a philosophical thing, and partly a cultural thing (in England there really is no such thing as a ‘quiz’). However, because of a significant change in the schedule that took place in 2013 at my current school, and the restrictions that it brought, I decided to start to incorporate a few AP ‘Quizzes’ (that are essentially mini-tests) into my teaching.
Unlike the tests, the notes, and the worksheets, these quizzes are ‘occasional’, and follow no particular pattern or frequency. They are offered simply as another resource rather than a fundamental, core part of what I do in the AP course.
